This file contains valuable information on setting up your J-Station for use with the J-Edit application. J-Edit is a full-featured editor and librarian written exclusively for use with the Johnson Amplification J-Station. In order to fully access all functions, your J-Station must have version 1.6 or later operating system firmware installed. The firmware version is shown in the numeric display when you turn on your J-Station. If the number is less than 1.6 you will need to run the included J-Updater application to update your firmware. J-Edit will run with any firmware revision but will not access all functions. We have included a utility (J-Updater) that will update your J-Station to the latest version using your MIDI ports. You will find J-Updater in the directory where you installed J-Edit. The default location is C:\Program Files\Johnson Amplification though you may choose a different location during installation. Make sure your J-Station is connected to your computer's MIDI ports (both in and out) and that the switch on the back of the J-Station is in the MIDI IN position. If you have presets that you want to save, run J-Edit first to save them. When you first start it you will get one or more messages warning that your J-Station does not have the latest firmware installed. Click OK, and you should see a window on the left side of your screen with your presets listed. Click anywhere in that window to activate it. Then go to the menu bar and choose File | Save as..., and choose the location to save your user bank. Press Save. Now close J-Edit and run J-Updater. If you ran J-Edit previously your MIDI configuration will be stored automatically. If not, you will need to manually choose your MIDI ports (see J-Updater help). Next click on the "Select Version" box. You will be prompted to save your presets. If you have done so, click "Yes" and then select the latest version (currently Js_16.h00, version 1.6). Press "Open" and your J-Station should start updating. The process should take several minutes. When the update is complete and you have closed J-Updater, you can reload your custom user preset bank back into the J-Station. Run J-Edit, and after the initial preset bank is displayed, select File | Open and open the bank file you saved previously. Then select File | Store Bank to J-Station and your original presets will be sent back to the J-Station.
